Irvine, California Jazeera Airways has selected Burrana’s lightweight in-seat power solution for their cabin retrofit program.

Burrana is proud to be selected by Jazeera Airways, Kuwait’s leading low-cost carrier, to enhance their passenger experience and deliver critical business outcomes with the installation of the industry’s most innovative USB in-seat power solution on their Airbus A320 and A321 fleets.

Each passenger will benefit from USB-A and -C outlets to power and charge their personal electronic devices with a system that provides equitable power at every seat, with multiple levels of redundancy, delivering the highest reliability. Burrana achieves this with a unique 48VDC architecture, with intelligent power sharing distribution and load shed management that enables all passengers to enjoy their personal devices for the flight, without worrying about running out of battery. Passengers will also experience the upmost comfort with no intrusion on their space with an ultralightweight iPhone-sized USB seat box tucked away within the seat itself.

With sustainability goals critical to the program’s success, Jazeera sought the best partners to reduce weight, fuel consumption, and CO2 emissions. They achieved this by partnering with ultra-light seat vendor Expliseat and Burrana to deliver the world’s lightest combo seat, the new TiSeat + Burrana USB Power, saving 1200kg per A320 cabin.

Eleven aircraft (9 x A320, 2 x A321) flying all economy will be retrofitted with Burrana USB power with certification via EASA STC. The first aircraft to be retrofitted is planned for December 2023.

Jazeera’s Chief Executive Rohit Ramachandran, “Burrana’s USB Power solution is the natural choice to reach our massive weight saving target of 1.2 metric tons per aircraft, without compromise on passenger comfort as USB charging has now become an essential element of Jazeera Airways passengers’ experience. ” Marc Cougoule, Director EMEA Region at Burrana shares, “Jazeera Airways was looking for the lightest USB Power Solution on the market to reach unprecedented cabin weight reduction targets. Our innovative collaboration with Expliseat reached and even exceeded Jazeera Airways objectives. With this project, we are proud to enable the creation of the most exclusive “Seat + USB Power” cabin technology combination to fly on an A320.

Burrana VP Customer Experience, David Pook, comments, “Burrana loves powering up extraordinary passenger experiences and delivering value to our airline partners by enhancing operational efficiencies, increasing revenues, all while minimizing capital and operating expenditure. We applaud Jazeera for challenging our industry to do and be better for future generations.”
